Made to Last

Our frames at COCO LENI are made to last with some even having a 10 year warranty. So what is it that makes our frames last? Firstly the sustainable material we use. The most  prominent material for black frames- Cellulose acetate. It is known as bio plastic. It’s plastic look and feel may mislead you however cellulose is made from fibre of cotton plants making it a environmentally friendly material. Some of our frames exhibit a thicker size meaning they are less likely to warp in shape.

 

Secondly we use riveted hinges. Most frames you’ll see with two small silver circles on either side, some companies will stick them on with glue to complete a ‘look’ however we take pride in the quality of our frames, especially as they are handcrafted. This means we use the original method of carefully hammering pins through the acetate and welding them to the hinge. This method is known to be the strongest and most durable way to attach hinges. We feel it’s important this method is used as the hinges bare the most stress of the frame.
